Yesterday, I was completely sleep deprived, so I forced myself to do a practice piece. I do a lot of these… I never usually share them. As a commercial artist, I often have to paint high volumes of work on auto-pilot… That is to say, artists cannot always be inspired— and when commercial deadlines are on the table we gotta work— no matter how we feel. So I push myself through practice pieces all of the time-- especially when I am feeling “blah". This about an hour and 45 minutes worth of noodling (with some pics off the side of kids at a zoo for lighting reference). It is definitely unfinished...Photoshop. Wacom Intuos Pro. Also— done on only one layer. That’s part of the drill/practice...
